I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one. Death is one of the most difficult things we face but may it comfort you to know that others care. I have found great encouragement when reading the beautiful words penned in the Bible at Isaiah 25:8 ” He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” May this promise also comfort you in this difficult time.
Derek being our only granson meant so much to me. I loved him so much, and was so happy that he gave me my only great grandchild ..Ava Jane. Derek was so proud of her and was a super dad when she was born. He brought me so much pleasure when he was younger, and we were very close for many years. He was always happy and loved a good joke. I will miss him the rest of my life. I pray that the good Lord will take good care of him.
What can I say that I haven’t said before to you? You’ve always been my favorite friend of Derek’s… The first time I met you over seven years ago, I knew you were someone special, with an even bigger heart. If I can remember right, I don’t think i’ve ever seen you once without a smile on your face… Quite infectious actually. if I’m going to remember anything about you, it would be those memories… Being young, not a.care in the world, and how you even in your down times, always had a smile for everyone. You’ll be truly missed, no doubt, and not because you were the best backseat driver I ever had.
Derek will be missed greatly by us. His love for Kristina will always be remembered. We will always remember him through our Grand-daughter Ava. I pray he has found his peace with God. I know he will always be watching over our Kristina and Ava.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints;
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you”.
