DONALD JAMES BOSSETT

Donald James Bossett was born October 5, 1917 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was the youngest of eight children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ovenyac Bossett.

Don’s parents passed away when he was just a child, leaving relatives to raise him. Don spent his early years in Lafayette, then moved to Houston, Texas to live with his brother Phillip. He later relocated to Seattle, Washington to live with his sister Matilda.

Don worked at the Boeing Company during World War II, assembling B-17s. He met and married his first wife Katherine. Don was also employed at Skyway Luggage and the Seattle Tennis Club. While Don was working at the Seattle Tennis Club, he met Myrtle “Tomi” Grazzette, whom he married in 1963. Later he worked at Bethlehem Steel where he retired. Even in retirement Don kept busy, driving his favorite vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria, and working at the Meridian Valley Golf and Country Club.

Don was a loving husband to Myrtle, and a terrific father and grandfather to Myrtle’s four children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He enjoyed calling all of the children his “gizmos.” One of his favorite expressions was “Alons Partir” – “let’s go.” He was affectionately known by all as “Donald B.”

He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who hunted and fished with his brother Phillip and longtime friend Warren McGee. There are many stories about their trips to hunt pheasant. After Don’s retirement from Bethlehem Steel he and Myrtle celebrated their anniversary each year by driving to Stockton, California to visit Myrtle’s brother Colonel John Perkins and his wife June. Driving trips to California, Nevada or scenic locations in the Northwest became a family tradition.

Don leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, his loving wife of 41 years Myrtle “Tomi” Bossett and a large contingency of family and friends.

ps

After reading the online bio of Mr. Bossett I found it quite a coincidence that he also worked at Boeing! My Dad worked there for 38 years. How interesting is it that they would be placed next to one another?
