Obituary
Donald Leroy PEARSON
December 22, 1917-March 29, 2006
Donald Leroy Pearson died in his sleep March 29, at 11:48 PM, at Highline Hospital. He was 88. Born in Wenatchee, Washington, Don attended Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington in Seattle. While at the UW, Don was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Varisity Boat Club. He worked as a supervisor with the Boeing Company for 44 years, and was proud to be part of the aerospace industry.
Don was a Mason, and a member of Green Lake Lodge #149. Certified by the National Association of Underwater Instructors NAUI, Don taught scuba-diving at the YMCA. Throughout his life, Don enjoyed camping, fishing and observing wildlife in many of the State parks.
For 28 years, from 1942 to 1970, Don was married to Phyllis Turnure Pearson. He is survived by their two daughters, Margaret Jean Pearson of Saratoga Springs, New York, and Anne Sarah Tracy of Davis, California, one granddaughter, Katherine Tracy Phillips, and one great granddaughter, Elena Marie Phillips, both of Carmichael, California.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Elizabeth Pearson, his father, Niles Arthur Pearson, his sister, Norene Pomeroy, and his brother, Kenneth Pearson.
In 2002, Don chose to move into the Masonic Retirement Center, Des Moines, Washington. When it closed for remodeling, he moved next door to Judson Park Retirement Center, where he resided until his death.
Don was not afraid of death. Rather, he looked forward to becoming part of the elements, earth, water, fire and air, thus nourishing the trees, and free to soar with the birds he loved. At his request, there will be no public service. Family will gather to remember him.
I noticed that his daughter is Margaret, is it the same “Margie” that lived in West Seattle in late 60’s, early 70’s ?
To the Don Pearson family,
There are no words to express the loss of a loved one. God is watching over Don and may He watch over you in your time of grief.
