Donald L. Brown – December 30, 1924-June 5, 2017

 

Donald was born in Yakima, Washington to Nellie and John Brown. He attended Lake Forest Park Elementary then graduated from RooseveltHigh School. Forfeiting the traditions associated with graduation, he immediately enrolled in the Army and served in the Asian Pacific from 1943-1945

 

After his service in the Army he studied at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The call of the Pacific Northwest brought him back to Seattle where he was employed with The Boeing Company for over 38 years.

 

Highlights of his 92 years include growing up in LakeForest Park with his brothers Jim (deceased), Jack, and his sister Jeanne. Don was a gentle and thoughtful leader; whether coaching Pee-Wee baseball, being a Scout Master, or instilling positive life values in his own children. In his mid-forties, Don found a new passion and took up mountain climbing where he summitted numerous peaks in WashingtonState and Mexico including Mount Rainier and MountPopocatepetl.

 

Donald and his first wife, Dolores, lived in West Seattle. In later years he met Jane who was the love and spunk of his life. They spent many of their retirement years traveling around the country in their RV, meeting many friends along the way, and were members of the Elks . Don and Jane (deceased) were married for 31 years

 

He is survived by his children Nancy (Richard Roberge), Paul, and Roger; his  stepchildren Ken, Ron, Janet, and Carol; and grandchildren Tyler, Riley, Renata, and Regan.

 

A private family gathering will be held at TahomaNationalVeteransCemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or the University of Washington Medical Center.
