Obituary
Donald S. Lockwood
1924 – 2009
Don was born in Seattle, WA in May 1924 and passed away January 23, 2009. He grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1942. Following graduation, he was drafted into the Army and served in the medical corps. He finished his army career with the occupation of Japan. Don worked for sixty years as a dental lab technician, retiring from his own laboratory in his seventies. Don loved his work and was very grateful for his clients and friendships he made.
Don embraced many hobbies. He had a very large stamp collection that he worked on from his childhood. He also enjoyed reading and collecting books on archaeology and related subjects. He had a model railroad and liked photography. He spent many hours in his garden. Seeing the Mayan ruins in Mexico and Central America gave him great pleasure. Don spent many hours working with the Federal Way Noon Lions Club. He loved jazz and had a large record collection and was a self-taught jazz pianist.
Don was pre-deceased by his parents, his step-father, his brothers Raymond, Robert, and Dennis. He is survived by his wife Marsha, sons Brian and Phillip and daughter Cathy. He is also survived by his large family of step-brothers and sisters as well as his grandchildren, notably his granddaughter Zoë who blessed his later years. No funeral services were held at Don’s request. There will be a family memorial at a later date. Please make remembrances to the Federal Way Noon Lions Club. Arrangements by Bonney-Watson Federal Way Funeral Home.

Don was my brother. He taught me
how to dive and played the piano with me. I shared his love of archeology and books and gardening.
Even in his last days, he would always “buck up” when I came in the room because I was his little sister.
I loved him and will miss him very much.

I’ll miss you, dad. You did good.
In addition to the posted obituary for our dad, I would like to add that dad is survived by his sister Louella, and his brother David. He is also survived by his granddaughter Shauna, Phil’s daughter; and my children, his grandsons Patrick and Rodney, and his granddaughter Carrie. He has 5 great-grandchildren: Patrick and Joann’s two sons, Bowen and Keegan; and Carrie and Chris’ two daughters, Katie and Sara, and their son Matthew. He is also survived by his biological father’s Frances A.Carsonchildren from his second marriage, whom are dad’s brothers and sisters too. In all, he had a very large extended family.
