Obituary

Donna Marie Cutts Mickelson died September 7, 2017 after a long illness. Donna was born in Seattle on November 25, 1924 to Harold and Ruth Tindall Cutts. She grew up in the Queen Anne neighborhood, graduating from Queen Anne High School with the class of 1942. After high school she attended the University of Washington where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

In 1945 Donna moved with her mother to Dayton, Washington and met her husband of 62 years, Bob Mickelson. They were married in the Methodist Church in Dayton on September 1, 1946. She enjoyed life in Dayton for 33 years and raised their two daughters there. She had a talent for decorating and loved bargain hunting for old furniture she could repaint or refinish.

Donna was a great hostess, a wonderful cook, and an accomplished seamstress. She donated her time teaching sewing classes in 4-H, and taught Sunday school at the Congregational Church. She enjoyed her bridge club and was active in her church, Grace Episcopal. In 1978 Donna and Bob moved to Olympia where she was a member of P.E.O and Glass Club, and worked as a docent for The Governor’s Mansion Foundation, where she was a trustee emeritus. They enjoyed traveling and visited Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, and Scandinavia.

Donna was a loving mother who set a great example for us, and touched many lives with the generosity of her time and affection. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Bob. She is survived by her daughters Cris Satterthwaite of Chandler, Arizona and Stephanie Mickelson of Pullman; and Brother Thad Stevens of Kent, as well as nieces and nephews. A family gathering will be arranged at a later date. Arrangements by Bonney-Watson in Federal Way.
