Obituary
On Monday, March 7, 2016, at 3:05 am, Donna Rae Powell passed away at the age of 81 at her home in Pacific, WA in the presence of her family. Mrs. Powell and her late husband Kenneth Powell Sr. opened a Chevron gas station in Skyway in 1960, purchased their first tow truck and called it Skyway Towing. As time progressed and the business grew, they moved to Renton where they continued to service their community, local business and schools.
Mrs. Powell is known to most as Mrs. P., Donna Rae, mom, momma, beautiful, little one and turbo. She enjoyed “pitching buds”, collect slugs at night and catching ladybugs with her granddaughter Amy. They would take walks to see “Sam (the snakes)”, Freddies the resident squirels”, the family of deer and the family of quails. She found comfort in playing her organ, she loved to dance, take Sunday drives in her Cadillac and later on, Sunday dinners with her daughter and son-in-law. There was one time in particular that we remember when we took her to the restaurant for her birthday and when we began to sing to her, she ended up on the table dancing and singing with us.
Mom enjoyed Thursdays when she would get her hair and nails done, get a coffee at the mocha stand … and boy, did she think she was cool! Then, go to the shop for lunch. Her lunches would be anything from a BBQ with corn on the cob, Jimmy Johns or a #6 from Jack-in-the-Box. She would always fall asleep by the end of the day but she wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
Mom was a very hard working woman often giving up her own passions to dedicate herself to her husband, kids (Kim and Jr), and Skyway Towing working countless hours, evenings, weekend and holidays. Mom would drill us on our times tables, cook us a hot dinner and tuck us in bed every night. We love you mom, give daddy a kiss, we miss you and will see you on the other side.
Donna Rae is survived by daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Mike Robledo; son Jr (Kenneth) Powell and wife Kathy Kraft; grand-daughter and grandson-in-Law Amy and Jason Terrell; great grandchildren Emily Berthier, Hailey Berthier and Kenneth Terrell; sister-in-law Catherine Powell and countless friends, co-workers and business associates.
Hi,
I was very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. My parents lived next door to your grandma and grandpa, Mr. and Mrs Price.
I remember your Mom quite well although she was off and married by the time I was old enough to know what was going on. But I do remember Kimmie and Kenny. It sounds like she had a great life. Take care
