Dora Mae Poulter CRABTREE
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away February 18, 2008 in Federal Way, Washington at the age of 91. Dora Mae was born in Logan, Utah, June 15, 1916 to Mary Johannah Peterson and Moroni Carl Poulter. She married Roland Bill Crabtree in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on September 14, 1938 just prior to the WWII and later moved with her husband to the Seattle area. They lived on Magnolia Bluff in Seattle prior to moving to Normandy Park in 1955 where she remained after her husband’s death in 1984. After suffering a stroke in 2001, she moved to the Federal Way area to be closer to her family. Having two handicapped sons, she supported many of the activities of the former Woodside School in Burien, serving 13 years as the PTA President. She had many friends in the Washington Association of Retarded Citizens. As a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she was active in all the local wards in which they lived. She served in various capacities in the Ward and Stake Relief Society and Primary organizations. She accompanied her husband when they were called to serve a Church building mission in the Renton area in 1965. In her later years she served diligently at the Seattle temple after its completion in 1980. She improved her talent of singing by participating in the Seattle Stake Singing Mothers choir with the Seattle Stake Relief Society. Her love of music continued over the many years with her many contributions to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. She was honored by an invitation from the Choir to accompany them on the 1984 Mormon Tabernacle Choir tour to the Toronto International Festival. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Queen Anne Camp where she participated in and enjoyed the many service and social activities throughout the years of her life. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, baking bread and candy making. Her bread and caramels were always the first items to sell out at charity bazaars. She is survived by her sister, Jeane Conrad of Menlo Park, California, her sons, Roland of Shoreline, Bruce Tammy of Federal Way and Kay Fielding also of Federal Way and daughters Jeane Roy Holt, Lake Tapps, Washington and Lorene David Fullmer of West Jordan, Utah. She has 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She will be interred next to her husband of 46 years.
