Obituary
Our beloved Doris at age 97 went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2009. Born Doris Bennett to the late Walter and Lealia Bennett on September 26, 1911 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. The youngest of 7 childrenshe spent her formative years in Louisiana and Arkansas. She lived in a number of great cities including St. Louis, Juneau and Seattle where she permanently settled in 1963.
Doris’s life and testimony always reflected the fact that she accepted Jesus Christ as Savior at a very early age. She became a member of the Peoples Institutional Baptist Church in the early 1940’s, where she faithfully served for as long as God willed. She is best remembered for her tireless ministries to the youth, the sick and the shut-in taking meals and cheer. Her contributions and value to their life and work of Christ are far too numerous to account in detail.
Our mother Doris was blessed to have many family and God children in her life who faithfully cared for her and survive today to cherish her memory; nephew and niece Leo and Marie Thorton, Bastrop, LA; her children Robert and Bobbye Duckworth and their children Sonia, Derrick, LaSean, Sebastian and DaSean; Children John and Tamara and family; Children Dorothy and Arnold Wright and family; and Ann and Charles Blackwell and Family.
The kids and I love you and will greatly miss you. You have left us with many fond memories which I will always cherish.
