Life Reflections

Doris Lorene Weldon was born to the union of the late Doc and

Currie Hoffman on September 25, 1932 in Dallas, North Carolina, where she was baptized at an early age.

Doris attended Dallas Elementary School and soon graduated from Highland High School in Gastonia, North Carolina with very high honors. She was an honor roll student.

Doris moved to Seattle in 1964 with her late husband, Willie J. Weldon, Sr., who was the first black man to integrate FHA where he was very well honored.

Doris was a member of Madrona Presbyterian Church where she was an active member in the choir. She had a voice like a bird. Everyone loved to listen to her, expecially her four children.

Doris loved stuffed animals. She collected over 115 stuffed bears for which she affectionately became known as “The Bear Lady”. She often joked that people would stop by not to visit her but to see her bear collection.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory; four children, Willie J. Weldon, Jr. wife Mancy, Cheryl Montgomery, Keith A. Weldon wife Gwen, and Deborah L. Lang, all of Seattle; dear friend Don Miller; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins and

wonderful friends.

She was loved by everyone! May she rest in peace.
