I will always remember my Aunt Doris. She was the most fun of anyone in the family when I was growing up. So dear to us all, she was a wonderful mixture of wisdom and humor, joy and honest sincerity. I love to hear her laugh. Sandy, I know you will miss her. How fortunate we all are for having known her. I pray God’s comfort to you and your family until we are all together again.

Doris enriched my life. Her frequent visits as my neighbor always made me smile. That she remembered me at Herb’s service truly touched my heart. Doris never had an unkind word for anyone. When we would walk together she would spot treasures. One day she found a ten dollar bill! Lucky her, lucky me to know and love her……….

To the Lamb Family, May each of you find comfort in knowing that God is “near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” Psalm 34;18 He has promised to soon “swallow up death forever…and wipe the tears from all faces.” Isaiah 25;8 Take care,

Dear Sandy & Family –

I am sad to hear about your Mom’s passing last week. Doris had so much zest for life and always a twinkle in her eye as though she were thinking of mischief. She had the most beautiful blue eyes! I know the last few years have been difficult and she is now at rest. Cherish your memories and keep your mother’s spirit alive for you, the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Love, Kathryn

Dear Sandy,

It was with such sadness that I read your mother’s obituary in the Times today. Your mom was such a positive example for me growing up and taught us all how to face loss and hardship with grace and courage. I will never forget her darling Texas accent, sometimes saying, “Now Johnny, be your own sweet self!” twinkling eyes, and delicious turkey stuffing as well as other recipes which I still useShe had a way of making everyone feel loved and valued. Bless you for your service and caring to your family as they aged. I sadly cannot attend your mom’s memorial, but will be holding your entire family in my heart and prayers on the 25th. Love, Alice

We have so many cherished memories of Doris and her family when they lived in Tukwila; the best of neighbors.

Doris was a special lady who came into my life in 1984 at a time when I needed a friend. She introduced me to the wonderful world of caring and loving friends in Al-Anon. We were in a group of 10 women who lived, loved, and laughed through the good times and the bad.

I remember fondly the many meetings at Doris and Herb’s home in Redondo as well as many dinners at Pioneer Pies, Village Inn, and also at our friend Nola’s home. One of my favorite memories is when Doris shared a “misadventure” that she and Herb had while at their place on Hood Canal when Herb fell out of the boat and into the water. We all marveled at how the two of them even ventured out in the boat let alone surviving a dunking into the water!!!

Another story comes to mind of when Herb would go wandering off down the road in Redondo and end up at Salty’s restaurant or at the post office where the folks knew that they had to call Doris to come take him back home. She did this all with grace and good humor.

I also remember the courage and strength shown by Doris and Herb when their son John was lost in the terrible accident when he and a friend lost control of their rented airplane into Puget Sound. Doris was amazing in her belief in God’s will and her ability to carry on even through the most difficult of times. She was truely an inspiration to all of us. I will miss her greatly.

My thoughts and prayers go with Sandy and all the family as they say good bye to a wonderful woman.

Love Ya,

Hi Mother, Doris. She was a tiny dynamic woman. She overcame many tough obstacles and she did shine bright for her maker. Much loved. Much missed.
