Obituary
Dorothy Mae Gibson, age 89, died peacefully August 7, 2024, in Federal Way, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Ralph and Ella Howser. Dorothy is survived by son, Jim (Marie) Gibson, daughters, Cindy Lea Collet and Lorna (Ken) Nystrom, grandsons Nick (Nikki) Gibson, Chad (Jessica) Collet, Cory Nystrom, granddaughters Kristina (Christopher) Wilson, Stacey (Derek) Lang, Jackie (Aaron) Lilge, Seana (Dave) Pearce, and 11 great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Bailey, Hunter, Colton, Mason, Sadie, Parker, Ruby, Kobin, Carter and Owen.
Dorothy was born in Havre, Montana and was raised on a wheat and barley farm. She met Bill, her future husband, in 1950 while they both attended high school in Kremlin, Montana. She was a junior and Bill was a senior. They married in November of 1952. They lived in Havre, MT, Phoenix, AZ and Great Falls, MT while Bill was in the Air Force. They also lived in Duluth, MN and Sioux Falls, SD before moving to Seattle in 1966 when Bill went to work at Boeing.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family. She took care of all her grandchildren during the day in the years before they started kindergarten, which was truly a sacrifice of her time and so appreciated as those memories are looked back on. Bill jumped into the fray when he got home from work as well. All six grandchildren developed a close and special relationship with their grandparents.
Dorothy and Bill were best friends, in love in 1950 and, joined together again, will continue for all eternity.
