Douglas George Walters, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 80. Born on January 8, 1944, in the same city, his life came full circle as he departed in the place he always called home. Doug lived a full and honorable life, marked by his dedication to his family and his country.

Doug was the epitome of a loving and hardworking individual, whose generosity knew no bounds. With hands that toiled lovingly in his garden, he shared the harvest of his rhubarb, tomatoes, and cucumbers with all who knew him. He was particularly fond of hunting and fishing, often spending weekends in his motorhome with his beloved wife, Janet. Their adventures brought them closer to nature and to each other, creating lasting memories.

His dedication to family was unmatched. As a husband to Janet for 56 years, he built a foundation of love and commitment that stood the test of time. He was a playful and engaged grandfather, teaching his grandchildren the strategic games of checkers and chess, and accompanying them to parks where he watched them swing and slide with joy.

Doug served with distinction in the National Guard Bureau of the Army from 1963 to 1969, receiving an Honorable Discharge. His time in the service was characterized by a commitment to duty and a deep love for his country, values he carried with him throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Walters; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandi & Mike Enloe, and Debbie & John Hansen; and his grandchildren, Jessica & Jonathan Hansen, and Logan Enloe. They, along with all who knew him, will forever remember his enduring spirit and guidance.

A service in memory of Doug will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac, Washington. Donations are to be directed to the National Guard at www.ngef.org or to Fred Hutchison Cancer Research in honor of Doug’s benevolent spirit.

The family has entrusted Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac, Washington, with the arrangements. Doug’s life and service will be honored in a ceremony that reflects his enduring legacy and the profound impact he had on those around him.
