Douglas Stephen Uren

August 18, 1948 – June 27, 2005. Douglas Stephen Uren has gone to be with the Lord at the age of 56. He had a twinkle in his eye, an intelligent mind, a love of adventure and a sense of humor that was second to none and a deep love for his family and friends.

Douglas was born to Jack and Marjorie Uren on August 18, 1948. He was active in the Foundry community and served as President of the Foundrymens’ Society. Doug spent many years exploring the waters of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands and made many treks to Desolation Sound with his boating buddies. He was always there to cheer on the Huskies and held a deep love for antique cars. Doug was blessed with a beautiful daughter Erica, born June 4, 1990. His legacy lives on in her kind heart, twinkling eyes, her sense of humor, her search for knowledge and of course she has his sense of adventure. He loved her dearly.

He leaves behind his loving Mother, Marjorie Uren ; sister Linda Plummer & family ; sister Barbara Louden & family , brother Tim , brother Scott & Kris Uren ; and his favorite cousin Tim Brown & family .He also leaves behind his daughter Erica Strathern U’Ren and his wife and companion of 30 years Laurinda Wendy Strathern. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Please join us for a celebration of his life at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel, 900 SW 146th Street, Burien on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 3:00 PM. Casual & Nautical attire encouraged. His ashes will be spread on the water he loved so much at a later date. We will miss Doug’s smile especially, but also his laugh, his kindness and his sense of humor always! We have many wonderful memories to treasure. Doug’s generosity and caring nature will be remembered by each of us. Our hearts go out to his family and in particular his wife, Wendy and daughter, Erica.

I worked for Doug at Firebrick Supply in the ’80’s and we became good friends. We spoke sporadically throughout the years and he always talked about his love for his daughter. He was always devoted to Wendy. Doug was one the funniest guys I ever knew especially when he described the game of baseball! He was always wheeling and dealing and had another deal on going over the next hill. I am so sorry for all of his family. A light has gone out in this world.

Doug was a great guy and friend of mine in High School. He was intelligent and cared about his friends. Doug was one of the guys I looked forward to seeing each day during our senior year in 66′.

DearDoug’s Family

I want express my deepest symapthies for Doug’s passing. I was sadden to see the annoucement, however,it brought back many great memories. Doug was a great guy’s guy.Doug and I were buddies during the day 1964-67,at Evergreen then for a few years going to Highline JC. We fished in Alaska, and had a great time. We lost track of each other, but I often thought of Doug and the fun times we had as buds. It does not surprise me he was still an old sea-dog and stayed close to the water for all of these years. I did as well, and live in Port Ludlow where I can see the water and smell the salt air, just like in the old days back home. I also would be interested in chatting about the old days and about Doug if any of the family is interested. My number is in the book 437-2236 days. Sorry, I cannot make the celebration, I have duty that day and cannot find anyone who shift trade with me. I am a fireman and must report for duty. Again, I was very sorry to hear the news.

Doug was a great guy!
