Dr. Walter Patterson
Obituary
Dr. Walter R. Patterson, a Burien dentist for over 50 years, passed away in the early morning hours of August 25, 2016 at age 87. Dad was preceded in death by the love of his life, our mom Mary. Dad served in the Marines from 1946-1948. He graduated from the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry and was a member of SAE fraternity. He was a member and past president of the local Lion’s Club chapter. He was also a past commodore of Seattle’s Corinthian Yacht Club and was a prominent local sailor. As a young man dad was a fire fighter for the US Forest Service. For a time he and Mary staffed remote fire lookouts- accompanied only by their intrepid cat Trotsky. Dad was always extremely handy and seemingly could fix or build just about anything. He was our hero and we miss him deeply. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth; his sons Tyler (Stacy) and Walt, Jr. (Susan); his grandchildren Katie, Ken, Aidan, and Samantha; and his sisters Eunice and Irene. Our sincere thanks go out to the staffs of Wesley Homes Des Moines, Franciscan Hospital Federal Way, and Highline Hospital in Burien for their respectfully kind and compassionate care. For those who would like to write recollections of Walt please visit his online obituary at www.bonneywatson.com. A gathering of family and friends to remember dad will be held at a future date.

He was a kind and forgiving man.
