Obituary
Dwight “Ike” A. Schultz was a man of many characters and gifts. Born in San Diego, the family moved to Yakima Washington while he was a child. Always industrious, he would help the family financially by mowing lawns, taking paper routes and odd jobs. It was in Yakima he met his future wife Marsha. Once married, the couple opened a foster home for abused children, eventually caring for seven. Wanting children, the marriage ended after five years when they could not conceive. After the divorce Ike started a new life and moved to Seattle. Embracing his gay lifestyle-he often spent his free time in local clubs “Dancing his life away”. A valued employee, he worked many years in retail, specializing in auto parts. Fascinated with computers and all things electronic, he became the electronics “Guru” for anyone he knew, and wanted to work in the field. In 1992 he realized his dream and opened “Ike’s Home Computer”. He built custom computers, did repairs, provided training and loved all of it for many years. As the computer industry changed to fewer, larger providers, Ike worked with his partner Greg in architectural design. The two worked successfully together for years preparing hundreds of designs for buildings in Seattle. Always looking for something new to learn and experience, he started “Beads by Ike” in 2007. Starting as a hobby-this grew into a full time and successful business with several retail outlets in Seattle carrying his work. Many people who knew Ike are wearing his pieces today. Dwight “Ike” A. Schultz, passed away suddenly, Saturday, July 6th, at his home with his partner at his side. He will be remembered by his many friends as a kind, generous and giving man with a quick wit and an occasional quick temper. All will remember the grin and the twinkle in the eye. He often said his greatest joy came from giving to others. He proved this many times over the years sharing the bounty in his life with friends, family and even strangers. Ike is survived by his partner of 29 years, Greg Brant; his brother, Donald Schultz and his wife Sandy and their children in Oregon; sister, LaVonne Young and her children in Idaho; his pug Kobe and cats, Finnie and Fawnzie.
Greg, I’m am so so sorry about Ike. I saw his obituary in the paper today. I am so sorry I didn’t call him more. I’ll be in touch. Linda (formerly of the Mayflower)
Thank you Ike for 29 wonderful years. You were the love of my life, my best friend and you made me a better person and man. I’ll miss you always until we are together again.
