Obituary
Edward A. Price, age 76, died peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Tacoma, WA at the Orchard Park Health Care and Rehabilitation Center after a courageous 5 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He was born November 2, 1931 in Miami, OK to the late John and Elsie Price. He graduated from Miami High School, Lassen Community College with a gunsmith degree. He attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Education. Edward served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Sill, OK. He attained the rank of sergeant. On December 22, 1952 he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Seamon at Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK.
In 1955 Edward and Barbara moved to the Seattle, WA area and he began working for The Boeing Company as a draftsman. After 38 years he retired from The Boeing Company in 1993 as a Contracts Manager. He worked on several programs earning a reputation as a tough and fair negotiator making sure all sides were treated fairly.
Edward was a member of the Federal Way School Board from the early 1960’s to 1968 and serving as President for part of that time. During this time he helped to oversee a large growth of the school district building new schools and purchasing property for future school sights. He was a member of Twin Lakes Golf and C.C. for over 36 years and was chairman of the junior golf program in 1974. Upon retiring he served as the president of the homeowners association at their winter home in Sun City, AZ, volunteered at the Federal Way Police Department, and served as a course marshal for the Twin Lakes Junior Golf Program.
Edward is survived by his wife of over 55 years Barbara; two daughters, Deborah Mike Clute-Littleton, CO and Cindy McCracken-Bellevue, WA; two sons, Randall Suzanne Price-Renton, WA, and Richard Sandy Price-Auburn, WA; eight grandchildren, Steven Dani, Joshua, Morgan Ryan, Christopher, Nicole, Jordan, Dylan and Hailey; two great-grandchildren, Grace Ann and Rylee; sister, Marie Jim Schooley-Sun City, AZ. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A private family service with committal and military honors will be held on Friday August 15 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 15 at Twin Lakes Golf & C.C. in Federal Way, WA from 3:00-6:00PM.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Group Health especially Dr. Steven Ginsberg, Dr. Matthew Quick, Lisa and the rest of her hospice team. They would, also, like to thank a special group of friends whose support and love has been amazing; Herb & Ruth Ann Marks, Al & Carolynn Hartman, and his team of senior golf friends, often referred to as ‘The Old Farts Club’ which met on a regular basis to discuss friends, politics and finances.
