Obituary
Edward Alva Hopper was born in White Center, Washington on April 19, 1921; the only child of Charles and Bernice Hopper. He and his wife Frances celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary on April 11, 2006. They were blessed with five children, 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Edward treasured his family above all else and enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them. He loved many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, camping and golfing. At the age of 82 he was especially proud of the hole-in-one he shot at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent, where he played on a senior men’s league. For most of his adult life he worked as a longshoreman on the docks of Seattle. He was proud of his work and was a long time member of the ILWU, Local 98. He retired from Seattle Stevedore Company in 1983. In his retirement he and Frances enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending time at their vacation property at Port Susan. Ed was a very generous and giving man to those in need; never asking for anything in return but loving the good feeling he got just from being able to help. If you wish to honor the memory of Ed, please carry on his good works and perform one unheralded act of kindness for someone else. And then, enjoy the wonderful feeling that
comes with it! Perhaps he will be watching and say ”Way to go!”
Our thoughts and prayers are
with Fran,Chuck and all of
the family. He was a very
special person and loved
dearly and will be missed so
much..
Sincerly John&Debbie Painter
Dear Fran and family,we are sorry to hear of your loss. I have many fond & funny memories of my ex-father in law. We will take good care of the property! Eddie wishes he could be at the service but due to the present unfortunate circumstances he can not attend. He sends his love along with his son Gavin. I was fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful caring family. Good memories.
God Bless you all,
Sara, Mike and family
Hey Dad… You are the BEST dad a girl could ever want. Thanks for always supporting me and loving me. The life lessons I have learned from you will forever serve me well. You have always been an amazing grandfather to my children and a wonderful father-in-law to Darwin. I will thank God all my life for blessing me with you for a father. I LOVE YOU!!!! Now and Forever, Debby
My favorite memory of Ed is when he would dress up like Santa on Christmas Eve and appear “magically” at Debby & Darwin’s. I think I was as excited to see him as the children were. What a Sweetie!
I know that if “LOVE” could have healed Ed, he’d still be here and well. He gave much love and he was surrounded by a very loving wife & family. I feel blessed to have known such a wonderful man.
From the heart,
Cheri Jacobson
