Edward L. Teller

September 17, 1929 - August 21, 2016

Obituary

Edward L. Teller passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on August 21, 2016.  He was born September 17, 1929 and lived most of his life in Burien and Des Moines, WA.  He was proceeded in death by his loving wife Beulah (married 61 years!), sister Janice Hoberg, brother Herbert Teller, brothers-in-law Allyn Johnson and Robert Goodspeed.  He is survived by sister Betty Plemons (Tom), brother Gerald Teller, sisters-in-law Vera Goodspeed and Maria Johnson, brother-in-law Chet Hoberg, daughter Melody Edwards (Steve), sons: Mark Teller (Jodi) and Kim Teller, grandchildren: Rebecca Gear (Gavin), Aaron Edwards (Suzanne), Eric Teller, Tonya Siegrist-Clark (John); great grandchildren:  Ellie & Renee, Haylee and Jobey, and Tristen.

Ed was an easy-going, quiet and gentle man, who loved the Lord and his family.  He took great joy in being on the water – swimming, water-skiing, fishing.  He loved boats and treasured trips with his siblings in the San Juan Islands (and later with children and grandchildren) and great family times at the cabin on Summit Lake.  He was a survivor of numerous life-threatening incidents including being crushed on a conveyor belt in a sawdust mill; being overcome by smoke in a fire (also at the mill); electrocution at his airport job as Refrigeration/Heating engineer and many major surgeries.

He loved singing and praising the Lord in church choirs and was a member of a Barbershop choir and quartet.  He took delight in animals and in his last years at Wesley Homes he looked forward to weekly visits by niece Carlyn and dogs Darby and Ziggy.  Another joy was verbal sparring with his brother Jerry!

We love and miss you, dad/grandpa/brother/uncle/friend!

Friends are welcome to join the family at a beach memorial service on September 2, at 11am at Seahurst Park, 1600 SW Seahurst Park Rd, Burien, WA

To my old neighbors in top hat, I feel for your loss. Many memories were had with your family and your grand parents, Ben & Christine. Your parents introduced Summit lake to our family, but we all have moved on. I remember some of the stories about your dad’s incident at the Elliot Bay Sawmill and the visits to Highline Hospital for some of his recovery stays. I plan on attending the memorial at Seahurst beach to catch up on old times.

Melody, Mark, Kim, and family,

You are all very much in my thoughts and prayers this week. I know my folks (Pastor and Mrs. Larson) so appreciated the friendship and all the anniversaries spent with your folks and Lewellyns over the years, and I always enjoyed seeing your dad and mom, too, when I had a chance. That group from House of Prayer was so special!

I’m sorry I can’t get down to your dad’s service in the morning, but we already had made plans before we knew about your dad. Just know that I’ll be there in spirit.

Please accept our sincere sympathy, and condolences on your loss. Feel free to email me if you wish.

love, Charlotte and Ron
