Edward William Hetrick

Obituary

Edward W. Hetrick died Saturday, March 26, 2022 at his home in Kalispell, Montana.  He was born July 9, 1934, the oldest of seven children born to Edward E. and Mae E (LaFrance) Hetrick.

              At an early age, Ed moved with his parents and siblings to Washington State, settling in Seattle at the start of World War II.

              In 1958 he married Darlene Mae Bowen and they became parents of three children, residing in the Seattle area until 1999 when he and his wife returned to Flathead County.

              He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 50 years, one daughter, Leola Frances Hetrick and three sisters.

              He is survived by two children: Edward Noel Hetrick and Laurena Mae Hetrick both of Washington State; two brothers John D. Hetrick of Washington State and Mark T. Hetrick of San Diego California and one sister Jeannette A (Hetrick) Eshom of Washington State; also, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, including his special friends Dee Wagner and her family all of Montana (who cared for Ed during his illness).

              Edward was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of VFW Post 2252 and a member of Eagles Post 234 both of Kalispell.  He was a Member of the Knights of Columbus, a Past Master of Masonic Lodge 100 of Burien, Washington and a 50-year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union in Seattle, Washington.  He was the Secretary for the Eagles in Kalispell for some time.

              Ed was a loving, caring brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.  He touched numerous people with his humor and his kindness.  He will be missed.

              Burial will be in the Washington Memorial Cemetery, Seattle, Washington.

              The Hetrick family would like to thank Dee Wagner and her family for their kindness and care of Edward during his illness.
