Eileen V. Altenhofer, beloved wife of Leo L. Altenhofer Jr., passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023 at the age of 84 in Puyallup, WA. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Eileen was born on July 18, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri to her parents Edward and Grace Parkin. She attended Barnes Nursing School in St Louis, Missouri, where she developed a passion for caring for others that would guide her throughout her life.
Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a constant source of love and support for her husband Leo for 61 years, and together they raised three children: Karl, Dale, and Lynn. Eileen and Leo were devoted to their grandchildren, Micah, Julia, Grace and Sarah. Eileen was also a loving sister to her brother Doug (deceased) and wife Alice and sister Grace (alive).
Eileen will always be remembered for her kind heart, words of wisdom, and selfless spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved, and her positive impact on those around her will be deeply missed.
In addition to her family, Eileen had a lifelong commitment to her faith and was an active member of Normandy Park United Church of Christ. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to God and her commitment to living a life of service being an RN and Parish Care Coordinator.
Eileen worked as a RN at Group Health Cooperative for several doctors and worked in the injection room. She started to work part time when her children started to arrive and eventually started the Parish Care program at her church, with several of her close friends.
She enjoyed and loved being a grandmother and devoted lots of her time babysitting them. She spoiled them with love, special outings, treats, and events to keep them busy for hours.
Eileen’s legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished.
