Loreli and Elana,

It has been a long time since our days with the Ballard Eagles Drill Team. Your mother was an amazing mom to a lot of girls on that team. She volunteered countless hours of heart and soul to the girls and the team as a whole. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I was lucky to be a part of the drill team with the two of you and your mother. My prayers to you and to your families on your loss of such a wonderful, mother, grandmother, volunteer and more!

Thank you for the wonderful memories.

God Bless

Diane

I have many fond and good memories of Elaine at Soroptimist meetings. She worked so hard to improve the lives of Women & Children. We had many a laugh during workshops. She is dearly missed.

As a Soroptimist sister, I remember Elaine very well. I remember the time I drove her big, fancy Cadillac to Bend, Oregon for a Soroptimist District Meeting – believe that was around October 1990. It was me, Elaine and Linda Klinger deceased 1992 and Elaine and I were roommates at the Inn at 7th Mountain. It was on the trip home that Elaine and Linda convinced me that I had good leadership potential and to run for a Northwestern Region office. That was the beginning of a great ride these past 11 years serving on the Northwestern Region Board and now on the Soroptimist International of the Americas Board! Elaine had a heart of gold and a love of service to her community. She has now joined fellow Soroptimists to oversee us in our quest to improve the lives of women and girls throughtout the world. Elaine – give Linda a BIG HUG for me!

Deepest Sympathies and God Bless,

Dede Olson

Dear Laurence and Family: I am so sorry to hear of Elaine’s passing, she was a remarkable woman, a very busy one. I do hope, she didn’t suffer too much at the end.

I worked with Elaine on many occasions and found her to be a very dedicated friend to all members of the Hi-Yu and the Soroptimist Club.

She will be missed by one and all.She worked very hard all her life and I visited your home only once and found it fascinating with all her very classy antiques.

I do hope, Laurence, that you are in good health.

We miss you in the Junction, but you sold your business to a good man, he does an excellent job on the shoes.

Sincerely, Doris Richards

Dear Laurence…I know we will see you at Mark and Elana’s house in the future, but I just wanted to send you a note via email. I was so glad Elana, Jack and Mark got to see Elaine on Mother’s Day…I’m sure they did not have any idea she would be gone so soon. I know you have been dedicated to her and have really devoted your days to spending time with Elaine. I hope you will do alright in time, but you will surely be lonely in the days and months ahead. All our best to you.

Sincerely, Patty and Mark Layton
