Obituary

Eleanor C. Gregory, born in Seattle on November 30, 1910, and very peacefully passed away on December 22, 2004. She is survived by her sons, Thomas A. Gregory, and David E. Gregory and daughters-in-law Barbara and Christine. She also leaves stepchildren Lyle Mary Olsen and Cheryl Jim Kaldestad. She has 5 step-grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She began her journey in Seattle’s Inter Bay neighborhood and attended Queen Ann High School. She lived in various Seattle neighborhoods throughout her life. She has lived by Woodland Park, Ravenna, Capitol Hill, Blue Ridge, North Gate and finally in South Seattle. She married Thomas Gregory in April 1935. In their 40 years together, they worked hard to renovate an old apartment building and moved on to additional buildings. Tom preceded her in death in 1976.

Elle kept busy with her Church activities and coaching the Junior Bowling League at Lei Lanai Lanes in Greenwood. She loved Bowling and was on several Bowling leagues. She met the Olsen family through their mutual interests in Bowling. In April 1981 Ted Olsen and Elle married. Their time together was short as Ted passed away in August 1981. She inherited his loving, grown children and has spent many happy hours with them.

There will be a private graveside service at a later date. The Family wishes to thank everyone for their support and expressions of Sympathy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Medic One, as they came many times to aid Elle in her last year. Thank you all for your thoughts.

Eleanor was a special lady. She was inspired to do things for other people and her church without needing something in return.

I am sorry I didn’t know Eleanor, but she is possibly a relative, I found her doing family research. If her maiden name was “Halager” and her mother was, Pauline Mortensen Halager, Pauline was a sister to my grandmother. If anyone in the family is interested in the Mortensen family research, please contact me directly at my email address. Thank you Karen
