Obituary
Eleanor Diana Deming Hale was born on January 24, 1944, and died on September 3, 2012, at her home in Seattle, Washington. She was the daughter of David Deming and Eleanor (Sheehan) Deming. She attended Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart and graduated from The American School in Switzerland in 1962, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1967, and earned a Masters degree in Social Work in 1989. Diana worked as a social worker with foster children in New York City and then in Seattle for over 20 years. She was a devoted professional who brought caring and energy to her work. Diana was an avid reader, driven by a curiosity about the world, current events, and history. She had a deep compassion for others, both in her immediate circle and around the world, which characterized her life and relationships. This, along with a wonderful sense of humor, made Diana a treasure for those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Deming, and a brother, John Dexter Deming. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Deming of Seattle, WA, her brother, Robert Deming of Carson City, NV, her niece, Regan Deming of Atlanta, GA, her son, Andrew Deming Hale (Sarah), and her two beloved twin granddaughters, Kathleen Deming Hale and Lillian Inglish Hale, of St. Louis, Missouri.
