Obituary

Eleanore (Ellie) Juniewicz

October 13, 1920- May 13, 2018

Eleanore Juniewicz nee Blasczak, age 97 ½ , wife of the late Edward J. Juniewicz of Jersey City, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2018 at Avalon Care Center in Federal Way, WA.

Born October 13, 1920 in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY.  She was the daughter of John and Eleanore “Tilly” Blasczak.

Ellie graduated from Grover Cleveland High School, worked as a secretary at the Empire State Building in NY before supporting our WWII service members as a Red Cross Volunteer.  First and foremost, Ellie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She later worked for 25 years in various positions in the Hudson County Court System before retirement as a Superior Court Clerk.  She volunteered for many years following her retirement, after relocating to the Pacific Northwest, at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA as well as Green Gables Elementary School in Federal Way, WA.  “Grandma Ellie” will be missed by the many lives she touched.

Ellie loved to travel, do crossword puzzles- the harder the better;  would break into song at a moment’s notice (no prodding needed) and maintained her keen sense of humor often winking and smiling at others in her presence.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Casey and her husband Michael of Tacoma, WA, Lois Juniewicz of Tacoma WA, Lisa Giglio and her husband William of Federal Way, WA and her son Paul Juniewicz and his wife Shirley of Groton, MA.  The “lights of her life”, she is also survived by her granddaughters, Lauren Patrone of Marleton, NJ, Marisa and Lianne Giglio of Federal Way, WA and her grandson Alex Juniewicz of Jamestown, CA along with an exceptional “extended family”.  Ellie’s long life was enhanced by the quality of care she received by her caretakers at Avalon along with and, most importantly, her devoted friend and caretaker Margaret Mirza.

In addition to her husband Edward, she was predeceased by her sisters Fran Ernst, Barbara Stawicki and brothers Walter and Raymond Blasczak.

Memorial Services to be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Federal Way.

As an expression of sympathy, should you wish, donations may be made to: The Camphill Special School.

Dear Lois and Linda and Families,

My sincere condolences to all of you.

Mrs. Juniewicz was always so nice to me growing up in Jersey city, right next door to you guys.

I know this is a blast from the past, but memories of Jersey city are wonderful especially when we remember people that were dear to us then, like your Mom.

Sincerely,

Carol Sosnowski Grabowski
