Ginger and Danny,

Words cannot describe the shock and heartbreak hearing the news from your Hawaii Family Court ohana about Elissa. I remember Elissa’s vibrant spirit when she used to visit your office, Ginger, when I happened to be in the building doing business and took joy in hearing of all her activities. May the loving memories you both have of Elissa and the support and prayers of your friends, even if some of us are across the Pacific, help in some way.

My deepest sympathies..a wonderful woman and her spirit have been silenced much too early.

Danny and Ginger,

Thank you for sharing Isa with us. From the moment Isa came in to our lives, we were her family and she was ours.

Isa came to many, if not all of Steven’s soccer games when he and Marvin started playing together way back in the 5th grade. We remember her all bundled up in a blanket – rain or shine standing on the side lines cheering with the rest of us. Isa was there at Decatur’s soccer championship game in Everett to watch Mike play and cheer him on in the big game. Isa and Kim made signs and sat right in front to hold up the signs so Mike could see.

Isa graciously welcomed me to the hula class and laughed with me at my inability to perform even the simplest of moves. While her hula was inspiring and beautiful, mine was neither beautiful or inspiring and she made me feel ok about it.

Isa was there when Larry and I got married and made us ribbon leis to wear at our reception.

She was there when both Michael and Steven graduated from high school – clapping and yelling with pride for the both of them as we did.

Isa sent birthday cards and gifts to all of us. She took Steven out for midnight donut runs to Krispy Kreme. Isa hooked Mike up with parts for his motorcycle.

She was our friend, big sister, and aunty. Isa never asked for anything and always gave from her heart. She was love personified.

We miss her smile, laughter – her Isa-ness.

This is a tribue to my great-niece Isa, who had such a great heart. Also, she was a fabulous artist. I will cherish the vibrant, colorful picture she made for me when I saw her in California three years ago. That was one of the special Christmas gifts I was given that year. Wish I could be there with the family at this time, but they are all in my prayers. Aunt Claire

Dear Ginger & Danny,

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. There truly are no words that can express how we all feel and how this tragic news has hit us all.

When I heard the tragic news that Isa was taken from this life, my heart sank. Though I’d known her for only a short time, I remember her warmth, her love for Hawaii, and especially her smile. She may be gone too soon, but I know her soul rests in a higher place now. I can just picture my dad, Rudy V., sharing some laughter with her!

Uncle Danny & Auntie Ginger, may you find strength in each other to keep Isa’s spirit alive. May you find peace knowing that your angel is watching you from Heaven.

With love & prayers,

Ninette

Manong Dan and Manang Ginger:

Our deepest sympathy to your entire family for the loss of your loving daughter.

We know the pain and sorrow you are going through right now is beyond words.

We too, her “extended” family and friends suffer a great loss. Issa was a joy to be around; so generous, so loving and thoughtful. We feel honored to have been part of her life.

Life truly is a jouney. And Issa’s has come to an end. In her young life she accomplished what must have been God’s plan for her.. to show us how to love, to give, and to care. As we journey through life, we will remember the lessons she thought us. When our own journeys end, we will see her again in the very presence of our Creator.

We pray that God will give you the strength at this difficult time. May you be reminded everyday how blessed you are to have been the parents of this wonderful person we all love. Draw strength from our God as He alone can give you peace. Always remember, he will not let you go through more than you can bear. Like the prophet Isaiah said: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength”. We love you Manong Dan and Mang Ginger. Know that nothing will change now that Issa is gone. You will always be a family to us. God Bless You!!

Love

My dear Isa,

I sit in my office today thinking about the times we shared….

I smile as I looked back at the times you thought me how to bake those yummy stuffed mushrooms… and how much laugh you had when I made those crusty, hard brownies.

I remember the year after year you called me to ask me what kind of cake you can bake for my kids on their birthday….or simply just to ask if I needed any help. I tell you not to worry and you show up with wonderful treats anyway. That just shows how generous you really are.

I also remember those huge, contagious laugh actually we had you on video yet again last New Year’s eve laughing your heart out and you made us all laugh with you.

Hmmm… I am trying to come up for a word that best describes you… a TORNADO!

A Tornado comes as a small gust of wind… picks up speed and gains so much power, it wipes out everything in its path… and leaves behind a devastating loss.

You were like a Tornado that showed up unexpectly; touched every life you came in contact with and no one was ever the same… what a tremendous loss not having you around.

Miss you… yes we will our dear Isa. How can we ever forget a life who loved and gave so much of herself. We will miss you. Our children miss you as you adopted them all as your own. Gone to soon… but we will make sure they remember the love you’ve shown them.

Our hearts are heavy and mourn your passing because we will not be able to spend the rest of our years with you; but we are comforted knowing in our hearts that you are in a better and happy place. Like your adding RJ said, “I am not so sad as I will see her again someday”. And we know we will.

This is not goodbye as you are not leaving us. Your memories will always be alive in our hearts. Till we meet again our dear Isa, we love you so much!!!

Manong Danny and Manang Ginger,

We still feel numb about this. We still can’t belive that Isa is gone. We pray that God will guide and help you go through this. We know that Isa is in God’s hands now.

We love you.

Eric and Charlaine

Isa,

I will never forget you. Thank you for all the fun memories. The crazy joke that I did to you that I made you cry. And to make you feel better, we ended up going to Wendy’s at 11 pm and stuffed our face with baked potato and chili. I will never forget that. You will stay in my heart and mind. Your kind and loving heart touched every one of us, especially with our kids. Cheska said goodbye. She will always remember you from the blue blanket with pink monkeys that you both have. We will miss you dearly. We love you.

Manong Danny and Manang Ginger, our deepest sympathy to you and your family. It is still so unreal for me and Robert that she is really gone now. But thank you for sharing her life with us. She was a loving, thoughtful, and full of life. We will miss her dearly. The late night driving in chinatown just to eat salt and peppered squid, or picking up bubble teas in our pajamas, late night shopping at WINCO and cooking sinigang, sitting around the house in front of the fireplace watching CSIs, the nights we burn wood outside making smores with us and our kids and our dog Rocky who also passed away last Nov – i hope she takes care of him for us. Our talks, the sleepovers on snowy days, and all the silly things we did and much more. No more teasing her about getting married so she can have all the kids she wanted. We miss her so much, she will always be a big part of us. We will miss her a lot especially on mother’s day and father’s day, for calling me ‘my 2nd MOM’-what a privilege to have her call me mom eventhough she’s only 10yrs younger than me. Even though our Isa is no longer here, Manong Danny and Manang Ginger – you’ll always be part of our family. Please be strong for her and for both of you. We strongly believe that she is in a better place now, and she’s very happy. We will all get through this in due time with God’s grace. We love you both and you’ll always be in our prayers…

Love,

Robert, Val, Aj and Asia

Manong Danny and manang Ginger, our condolences to you. Eversince our paths crossed we considered you a part of our family that is why on these difficult moments we share your tremendous loss. We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Isa and we can never replace her in our hearts. Indeed, she was a very selfless person, compassionate, caring and a great giver. She left a big space in everyone’s hearts and we will miss her dearly. She’d been so kind to us especially to our kids and we can never repay the kindness she has given us. She will always be remembered by many because of her good deeds, personality and the way she touched everyones lives. I personally won’t forget her as long as i reach Jan 13 for this is the day i also was born. Please be strong and keep the faith for we all know that our Isa is now in a better place with our maker looking down at us. Let’s continue on doing good and please know that we are thinking about you and praying for you that you’ll find comfort in this very dark moment. We are hoping that this is not the end of our great relationship, but a start of a stronger bond of friendship.

Isa,

We have always loved you….you will always be in our hearts….we’ll miss you a lot.
