Obituary
Our beloved Lissa passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, surrounded by friends and family. Lissa was born to Domenic Desimone and Maria Tordiglione on June 29, 1941, in Seattle, Washington.
She graduated from Highline High School in 1959, then Seattle University in1963. She then received her master’s degree as a nurse practitioner from UW in 1977.
She then felt a higher calling and did some missionary work in Guatemala where she came upon a little girl named Maria who was in an orphanage and whom she later brought to the U.S. and adopted.
Lissa traveled to many places in her life and was always there for anybody who needed her. She loved being a nurse and did so for many years.
She made the best chicken enchiladas and pie that anyone has ever eaten.
She is survived by her daughter Maria Desimone, sister Angie Martiniello, nephews Mike Martiniello and John Martiniello, one great-nephew, and many friends whose lives she touched.
Liz was the driving force behind our Mom’s Group. We raised our children together. As they got older, she encouraged us to gather together and support each other. We met for dinner not as often as we would have liked but as often as we could. She was such a positive, loving person. She will be missed!
I met Liz almost 50 years ago when I started working University Hospital Emergency Department in Seattle. The Emergency Department staff was a close group of hard working, conscientious nurses. We all became friends and have managed to keep in touch all these years. Liz was compassionate and kind, but she was also happy. Her laughs and giggles always made me smile. I always looked forward to seeing her whenever our group managed to get together, we are going to miss her.
