Elizardo Rodriguez Sr.

Elizardo Rodriguez Sr., age 84, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2016 in Burien, WA after a long battle with Dementia. 

Elizardo was born January 2, 1932 in Brownsville, TX. At age 15 (after the death of his father in 1947) he dropped out of school to care for his mother and siblings. Soon after in 1949, he joined the United States Army, serving in the Korean War that would begin a year later. On December 19, 1951, he married Carmen Rodriguez in his hometown. He was honorably discharged from the Army six months later on June 19, 1952 as a Sergeant. He and his wife became the proud parents of six children over the next several years, moving to Seattle in 1966. Elizardo worked for 30 years at Boeing as an Aircraft Mechanic, retiring in 1995.

Elizardo is survived by his brother George Rodriguez; sister Minnie Hinojosa; children: Judy Pelayo, Doris Gonzales, Cindy Brown, Ed Rodriguez, and Gilbert Rodriguez; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren – all whom he loved and adored.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen, son Elizardo Jr, daughter-in-law Kathy, grandson Enrique, father Daniel, mother Herminia, brother Daniel Jr, brother Ricardo, and sister Blanca.

Elizardo’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
