Ella A. Hills Hughes
Died April 27, 2010 in Tumwater, Washington at the age of 97. She was born in Spooner, Wisconsin on September 5, 1912 to William Elmer Hughes and Rilla Ellen Corbin, the first of several siblings.
Ella worked as a seamstress for the Aerospace industry and the old Renton Hospital. Her favorite pastimes were family picnics, camping, gardening, playing cards and crocheting for family and friends.
She was married to LaVerne Hills for 68 years, who preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived by her brothers Ross Hughes, Harland Hughes and a sister Betty Moss; children and their spouses: Jean Chase, Fred and Laura Thompson, Wayne and Sharon Hills, Doug and Donna DeWitt; deceased children: Lillian Zieroth, Elaine Drown, and Milton Thompson. She has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren that she dearly loved.
She will be remembered for her loving smile, generosity and willingness to help family and friends. She would spend days baking and cooking for family gatherings. She is dearly loved and missed by all her family and friends. She had many loved friends at Capital Place Retirement Center in Olympia where she lived for many years.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 12:00 pm at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial, International Boulevard, Seatac, Washington.
My grandmother was my role model, the patient person I aspired to be. I never heard her raise her voice, never saw her raise a hand in anger, never saw anger in her face.
She taught me to sew, crochet, bake bread, make jelly and jam.
She taught me to hang the laundry on the clothes line, which hung low then lift it up into the air with a pole especially for this purpose.
She passed her gift as a water witch on to me, and me to my daughter.
She was the most wonderful woman!
To Aunt Ella: Thank you for being by our side when it counted and for your support in all things big and small. You have been an inspiration and guide to all those who have known you. You will be missed from this life, but will be in our heart and soul always until we meet again.
Since I wont be in town for the service I want you all to know I will be thinking of you and will be with you in spirit. Aunt Ella was my second Mom and Donna is my other sister – I have so many, many wonderful memories of Aunt Ella. She will always be cherished and remembered with love.
