Ellade Mary RICE March 14, 1911 – March 15, 2007 Ellade lived a robust 96 years. She attributed her health and longevity to her faith, chocolate and green tea. Ellade was born in a cabin in Harrison Idaho. She was the eldest of 7 children born to John and Blanche Sinnett. Ellade joined the BVM convent at age 15, and stayed for 5 years, leaving before taking her final vows. God had other plans for her. She went to Business College and began a career as a secretary at Fort Lawton. There Howard Rice swept her off her feet. They married and had two sons, Patrick, who died in infancy, and Jerry. She was overjoyed to become a grandmother at age 76. She delighted in her three grandchildren Matt, Brigette and Katie Rose. She is now reunited with her parents, brothers Kenneth and Alfred; husband Howard, and son Patrick. Ellade leaves behind her son Jerry Barb, her grandchildren, her sisters: Vivian, Caroline, Edwardine, and Dorothy, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary vigil will be at 7 pm on March 20th at Bonney-Watson, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 Wednesday, March 21st, at Holy Rosary Church, 4139 42nd Ave SW, Seattle.
