Obituary
Ellen Love DiDonato, 86, passed away January 6, 2006 surrounded by family. Ellen was born October 23, 1918 the youngest child of Joseph and Ellen Hofmann. After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1938, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas DiDonato in 1939 and their love flourished for sixty-six years.
Ellen was a committed mother to Bonita Gary Holmboe, Donald Judy DiDonato and Nancy Doug Dammrose and grandmother to eight grandchildren and six great¬grandchildren. She spent many years leading youth scouts with her enthusiastic ingenuity. Ellen modeled a determined, diligent character throughout her life assisting her husband in their family business and working for Frederick & Nelson, Mission, Macaroni, and retiring from Nordstrom’s in 1983.
Ellen was a creative individual with a love of flowers, gardening, nature, cooking and baking for all family gatherings. Her skills of sewing, knitting and artistic design were displayed in many gifts to others. She could tackle first-hand remodeling, landscaping and maintenance projects for both their Seattle home and Stilaguamish cabin. Ellen possessed a selfless style and was always there for her family’s need. The threads of her devotion will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Tom and Ellen have been wonderful neighbors to Mary Jo and I over the past 23 years we’ve lived near them. Ellen was so obviously loved by Tom, sixty-six years is a remarkable example for all married couples. We are grateful for the humor and smiles which Ellen has often shared with us through the years and the many “back alley” conversations with Tom and Ellen over the years. We will greatly miss Ellen and know that she has gone home to be welcomed by her loving God! Our prayers are with Tom and all the family. Love, Jerry & Mary Joneighbors 3 doors south
Dear Nancy and Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I have fond memories of her, her wonderful laugh and your warm, loving home on Beacon Hill.
With Sincerest Sympathy,
Valerie
Hi Don
Our thoughts go out to your family.
Our prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
GOD bless all of you.
We’ve been lucky to have Ellen and Tom as neighbors. They have both been so kind to us for 25 years and we admired their devotion to one another. It was always fun and interesting to talk with Ellen while gardening outside. We loved the cookies she baked – Christina especially liked the little waffle cookies she made.
Ellen’s viewing tonight was beautiful. All of her family are gracious, as she was. Don related memories about playing in our house when they were all little. It’s nice to think of Ellen’s children having candy and tv in our place so long ago.
We will miss Ellen very, very much.
Love to Tom and the whole family.
Wiley, Raynette and Christina Norwich
Dear Cousins, through the years you have touched our family in a big way. We love you all. We loved Ellen and we will never forget the wonderful times we spent with her, and how special she always made us feel! She lived her middle name. With love, SaSa, Kenny and kids
