Obituary
Emmett Richard Roberson, Jr. was born on December 16, 1918 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Fannie McCree and Emmett Roberson, Sr.
He was the youngest of seven children (Julia, Thomas, Tennessee, Benjamin, Craymon, and Willa) all of whom preceded him in death.
The family moved to Oregon and Arizona where he received his education.. He then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camps in the late thirties working in Arizona and California.
He served in the US Army from 1942-1946 and spent time in Asia as a medic. He was honorably discharged in 1946. During his military
service he married Oddie Lewis in Alexandria, Louisiana. They moved to Seattle, Washington in 1944. To this union were born four sons: Gary, Richard, Donald, and Steven.
They became active members of Peoples Institutional Baptist Church in 1944. He participated in Sunday School and was on the Usher Board.
He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 37 of employment in 1983. He had a sharp memory and loved to research his family history. He also loved reading, social affairs, photography, travel, and playing solitaire.
Emmett was proceeded in death by his wife Oddie, son Richard, granddaughter Leah, and daughter in law Belinda. He leaves to mourn his sons: Gary, Donald and Steven; grandchildren : Tracey, Michelle, Kevin, Naomi, Stephany, Mario, Micah; great-grandchildren: Tareak, Alliyah, Simone, Jaheem, Mariah, Saniyah; god daughter Jan; extended family Attiyya, Nyerere, Mamie, Beranda, Bill, James, Glenn, Aisha, and a host of family and and friends.
