Obituary

Erich O.E. Zinke died on May 15, 2009 at The Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington. He was born in Truman, MN on November 7, 1924 to Emilia and William Zinke.

He served in the USN during WW2 aboard the USS Enterprise. Most of his life he worked for the Federal Government Corp of Engineers as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He worked for many years at the Government Locks in Ballard before retiring in 1980.

In 1945 he married Jane Marie Halvorson who he was devoted to until her death November 27, 2008. They bought their property in Tukwila, WA in 1953 and lived in a small house while they patiently built their own dream home. They gardened and raised chickens until they moved to Yakima in 2001. They enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends. They dined out and danced frequently and they loved to romance each other.

Erich was a member of the Eagles and a life member of the VFW. In early retirement he walked six miles a day and enjoyed helping others, golfing and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 12:30 PM in the Bonney-Watson Chapel at Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd, Sea-Tac, WA. Viewing from 9:00 am to noon before the service and following the service during the luncheon reception.

You are now with your bride who you missed so much.Thank you Uncle for always being so good to me and my family. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of having lots of fun at your home. You and Aunt Jane will always hold very special memories in my heart. Love, Alena
