UNCLE JACK IS HERE! How I remember screaming those words when we heard his big rig drive up the hill in California. Jack used to “drop” in out of the blue, stay for a day or two to rest up and then be on the road once again. As kids, we thought he was the “coolest” uncle ever. Sitting in the big rig, pretending to drive, honking the horn – the neighbors giving him “those looks” as he took up 6 parking spaces, and Uncle Jack just not giving a darn. As an adult now, I have such fond memories of the rascal that he was – and oh yes, those annual trips to Wendell to see everybody – 4 kids in the backseat driving the Nevada desert with as few stops as my dad could possibly get by with. And then there’s Twin Falls – I think back then the biggest attraction for Debbie and I was the hamburger joint and Deb driving her truck through town, never stopping for red lights as she had the timing all figured out – giving her cousin from California heart failure! I’m so very thankful that I got to see my uncle these last few weeks of his life and every once in a while see that glimmer in his eyes that meant he too remembered.

Blessings to the entire family.

My grandpa was loved very much and we will all truely miss him. We remember the times of going to breakfast with him. He always wanted his bacon crispy. He always made us laugh and I loved every minute that I had to spend with him. He is in a better place now with out any pain and smiling down on us.

Love always, Matt, Sara, Bailee, and Easton

When I think of the Chaplins I remember the chocolate cookies Grace used to make, the Model A times up at the house by the water tower, Ernest Sr. not wanting me to come to the house any more because I was a “trouble maker”, but I walked up there any way on Pearl Harbor Day to tell them. I was always envious of the way Jack dressed,so neatly. Oh well. Throw a flower on Bill’s grave for me when you can ,and Bob, have a Starbucks for me for Jack.
