Eseline Mildred Storms
June 28, 1919 - March 2, 2007
Obituary
Eseline Storms, our mom, grandma, sister, and friend was born in Chewelah, WA on June 28, 1919 and passed away on March 2, 2007. She lived her life as an example of caring for and about others. She grew up in Chewelah, WA and attended Jenkins High School and for a short time, Eastern Washington University. She married Vincent Storms to whom she was married for sixty-eight years, and who preceded her in death on December 20, 2005. Mom spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, first caring for her sons, Gary, Jim, Ric and Don. In 1981, she and our dad Vincent raised their grandson David in their retirement years. For a number of years, mom endured congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. About one and one-half years ago she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. About six weeks ago, she suffered a stroke that took most of her ability to communicate. Even through these difficulties, she was a good example for us all about how to suffer gracefully. Even after a debilitating stroke, her grandchildren still brought a smile to her face. She is survived by her sons Gary, Jim, Ric, Don Janet and by a sister, Lucille Hotchkiss of Prosser, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren JV Tina, Steve, Jon Shawna, David Vanessa, Paul, Mark, Christina, Marissa and finally her great grandchildren, Vince, Jennifer, Taylor, Jordan, Alex, Angelliena, and Christian. God truly blessed us with someone who cared about us and looked out for us. God, thank you for sending her to us. We love her so much! Remembrances may be made to Medic One, The Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Medic One, or The Heart Association. A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 8th, 11:00 AM, at St. Francis of Assisi of Burien.
Don, Ric, Jim, Gary and families,
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your mother. She was a special lady who gave me the inspiration to raise four boys of my own. I know how much her friendship and support meant to my mom througout the years. At one point your mom had agreed to come wash my mother’s dishes if she dropped dead suddenly one day! The worries we have when we’re younger! We were all lucky to grow up in the families we did with the neighbors we had, and our parents raised kids smart enough to know it…
You are all in my prayers.
Love, Maureen
Growing up with Ric, I knew what a great mom Mrs. Storms was, and what a loss she is to her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Eselene was my God Mother. Vin, my God Father. Really in essence she was like a second mother to me. She was there for me when my mama died of cancer…We all lived in the same neighborhood and belonged to St. Edwards Parish. Eselenes daughter in law-Joyce introduced me to my husband Gary and was my matron of honor. She and my brother-in-law died at the same age and on the same date of june 13, 2005. Will always hold dear-Eselene, Vin, and Joyce.
Love to you
Jim, Gary, Rickey, Don
