Eugene P Allamano
December 28, 1922 - December 6, 2016
Obituary
A longtime resident of Seattle, Mercer Island, and Sequim, Gene Allamano died peacefully on December 6, 2016. Born on December 28, 1922, he grew up on Beacon Hill, the only son of Eugenio and Corinne Allamano, and brother to Millie, Mary Louise and Caroline. Gene graduated from Franklin High School, where he excelled at football and met the love of his life, Ann. After graduation, he volunteered for the Air Force. Stationed in England, Gene served as a navigator on B-17 bombers flying missions over Germany. The pride he took in his service and the kinship he felt for his colleagues was undiminished throughout his life. Upon returning home, Gene taught himself to build houses. His integrity, artistic eye and attention to detail helped him forge a successful custom home business, which he ran until his retirement. In “retirement”, Gene built three more homes, enjoyed golf, fishing, crabbing, gardening, and travel, and relaxed by woodworking gifts for family and friends. A proud Father to his four children John (Jonell) Allamano, Cori (Dale) Hawes-Zeigler, Mark (Jody) Allamano, and Andrea (Blake) Randleman. He was beloved Grandfather to ten grandchildren, and Great-Grandfather of Twelve. He and Ann were married for over 72 years; their union proves there is something to the idea of a soul-mate. Throughout his life, Gene combined high standards with a sly sense of humor and genuine warmth. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 11 am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, 1804 13th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98122. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Assumption Building Fund. May we all live as long, and as well.
