Everett A. HANSON

Everett was born in Kenmare, North Dakota on February 25, 1919 to Arthur and Ella Mae Hanson, he was the oldest of 5 children. During the depression he quit school to help support the family, but courageously went back and received his diploma. He met his wife Helen at a turkey raffle, and dated and finally won her over by going to many barn dances. He loved to dance and he was good at it.

Everett married Helen in 1939 and moved to Seattle in 1942. He first worked at a gas station before landing a job at Boeing. He joined the Navy shortly after, and then returned to work at Boeing. Annually, Everett and his friends would go on a special hunting trip every fall. Fishing was another much loved sport. Everett and Helen had a lot of fun with friends and family throughout their first 13 years of marriage.

Wendy was first-born, a couple years later their daughter Terry was born, and a few years later their son Mark was born. Everett had a lot of responsibility at Boeing. He always managed to find time for family. Camping on the weekends was always a favorite family pastime. Also every summer the family would always go on a vacation. Going to the ocean to dig clams was always a family favorite. One of the fondest memories was the time the tide was coming in, but through Dad’s stubbornness, he insisted on getting this one particular clam, The waves kept knocking him over, He’d get back up and start digging, never giving up practicing what he preached, finally after being half drowned, he got his clam,….he won! We are all quite sure it was the smallest clam dug up that day.

Everett retired from Boeing in 1981 at the age of 62, then even more fun started. Everett and Helen were gone a lot. Traveling to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Reno, Camping, fishing, visiting relatives, it was great fun. Eventually we needed to sell the family home where they lived for over 48 years. They moved to Everett into a retirement community to be closer to the kids. Just recently they moved to Terry’s home in Mill Creek. Everett died on September 25, 2006 at home with his family at his side. The memories will be cherished forever, and he is deeply missed.

WE LOVE YOU, DAD.

I was so sorry to hear of Everett’s death. I will always fondly remember the Thanksgivings spent at the house, when I was growing up.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love, Bev Duggan
