Obituary
Father Gerald “Jerry” L. Mayovsky, 92, died peacefully in his home on April 8, 2025.
Rosary and Vigil will be held on May 5, 2025, at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Vigil and Funeral will be at St Thomas Church in Tukwila, Washington. Final Committal will take place at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline on a later date.
Born in Seattle, Washington on August 25, 1932, to his parents Paul and Mary, Father Jerry was the youngest of 12 children. He studied for the priesthood at St Edward Seminary in Kenmore and was ordained in St James Cathedral in Seattle on May 23, 1959. He served as an assistant priest at St Edwards Parish in Seattle (1959-1965) and Our Lady Star of the Sea in Bremerton (1965-1970). He was appointed pastor at St Joseph Church in Lynden (1970-1977), St Madeleine Sophie Church in Bellevue (1977-1990), St Thomas Church in Tukwila (1990-2013) and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Seattle (1994-2013). He retired from active ministry in 2013 and continued to assist in various parishes until his health declined. He celebrated his 65th Jubilee of Ordination in 2024.
Father Jerry was known for his accepting nature, his generous hospitality, and a profound sense of gratitude. He always encouraged others to be their best selves and to serve with humility trusting in the abundant life that God had in store for them. He loved entertaining, travelling, playing the piano, and gardening.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and nephews, and many, many friends who loved him dearly.

Father Jerry was a kind and loving soul and will be missed by many, he always brought smiles and laughter to everyone’s faces… you will be forever in our hearts
