Obituary
Felipe de Castro Sangalang
Felipe de Castro Sangalang died February 3, 2013 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 80 years. He was born February 5, 1932 in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Philippines.
A Vietnam veteran, Felipe served in the United States Navy for 20 years, and 10 years at the VA Hospital in Seattle.
Felipe is survived by his devoted wife Josefa of 57 years, son Ron and his wife Mary Sangalang, daughter Charlotte and her husband John Koral, and son Jaime and his wife Stefani Sangalang, brothers Juanito, Bernardo, & Theodoro Sangalang, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for Felipe will be held Monday, February 11th from 4:00-7:00pm with the Rosary at 7:00pm all at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd., SeaTac, WA 98188. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 12th at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10001 57th Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98178.
Sincere Condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to Ron, Mary, and the Family. We didn’t know him, but every Veteran I have known from the Phillipines was dedicated, staunch in their patriotism, respected the Flag, and dedicated to the U.S.A. The Good Book tells us there is a time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to live, and a time to die; We are crying, and he is laguhing, probably welcomed to Heaven by the souls of the Sailors that went down with the Arizona and the Carrier Yorktown, swaping jokes and drinking Cokes. R.I.P, my fellow Vet.
Dearest Josie & Family,
With heartfelt sympathy to you and loved ones with the passing of your devoted Felipe as husband, father and grand/great father.
Josie, you did your very best and gave your all as a loving wife and best friend for 57 years to Felipe. This is love!
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time of loss. God will give to each of you the strength you need to carry on.
God Keep You & Sincerely,
Shirley Jeans & William Albright

Ron Sangalang is a valued member of our Illahee Middle School teaching staff. He has spoken affectionately about his dad over the years. I know he will be missed. Our arms are wrapped around Ron and his family during this time of loss.
Jerry Warren and our Illahee Middle School staff
If Ron is anything like his father Felipe must have been a very special person.
Best Wishes, Carl McNutt
What a great man Felipe must have been. His son Ron continues to amaze me on a daily basis. I don’t know a man who is as kind or caring as Ron is. Kids are products of their parents. Ron’s dad must of been a great father.
Thanks Felipe, for all you have done for so many of us.
Ron,
My condolences for your family, with many prayers for you and your father.
Sondra
Dear Ron,
I am so sorry for your loss. May the memory of your father sustain you, and may the Grace of God uphold you at this difficult time. Will continue to hold you and your family in my prayers.
Peace
Myra.
To the Sangalang Family.
Prayers of comfort at this time to honor such a wonderful man who showed his love to all of you. His light and love shines through his son Ron every day I get the opportunity work with him.
Peace be with you.
Ron and Family–
I was sorry to hear of Felipe’s death. I can tell by the guest book entrants that he and his family are very much loved. I had the privilege of going on the Adult Tiajuana Trek with Ron back in 2011. What a wonderful caring person he is–I am sure that is because of his upbringing in such a loving family. May you all get through this time of grief by remembering all the blessed times of the past. I will keep Felipe and you in prayer–Susan
