Obituary
Francess Elizabeth Carter passed away on June 6, 2012, at the age of 86.
She was born on May 12, 1926 in Everett, Washington to Mary BlancheSt. Pierre and John Joseph Martin. Francess was the second of five children. Her siblings were Rose, John, Tom, and Liz Martin. She attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma, and in 1943 married Edward (Bob) Morris Carter, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Together they had four children:Patti, Rick, Marty, and Doug Carter. The family was stationed at numerous Air Force bases across the country, from Maine to Arizona, and also in Britain. After Edward retired they settled on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. In 1974, Bob passed away and Francess kept herself busy raising her youngest son, Doug. She had picked up a habit from being a military wife of packing up and moving every four or five years. Francess lived in at least five homes on Queen Anne Hill and a number of homes in Ballard, Burien, and Des Moines. She kept in close contact with her children and grandchildren throughout her life.Francess had 9 grandchildren (in order): Jeff DeBiase, Matt DeBiase, Rick Carter, Chris DeBiase, Tom Carter, Kirstie Carter, Hayden Carter, Nicholas Carter, and Jack Carter as well as 4 great-granddaughters: Cloe DeBiase, SamanthaDeBiase, SofiaDeBiase, and AlyssaDeBiase. Francess loved her pets (too many to mention) and was always up for a game of pinochle or bridge. We all are better for having known her and will dearly miss her curiosity, wit, and laughter.
The family wishes to extend its thanks to all of the staff and caregivers of Providence Hospice of Seattle and Harborview Medical Center. We would also like to acknowledge all of Mom’s doctors for their care, compassion, and concern, especially Dr. Kim in Internal Medicine, Dr. Wendy McGoodwin in Palliative Care, and Dr. Angelina Platas. Because of their vigilance, we had Mom with us for as long as possible.

Mom, we love you and we will miss you a lot. Life won’t be the same without you.
Frank Wodarz, son of Rose Martin, is my husband. Our thoughts are with the entire family at this time of your loss. Frank has always had nice things to say about his Aunt Francess
Dear Carter Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear loved one. It seems no greater saddness is felt than when someone so dear is loss. May you find comfort in your memories and draw strength from a promise God has provided which gives the hope of someday being reunited with Francess (John 5:28,29). This promised future is one that will be filled with joy because it will include perfect health and everlasting life on a paradise earth where “the former things will have passed away” (Rev. 21:4, Psalms 37:29). So during this most difficult time may you find some comfort in knowing that Jehovah God (Psalms 83:18) does care and He does hear our cries. With most sincere sympathy my condolences.
