Obituary

The son of Jesse Clinton Prouty and Lillian Mae Lott real surname Knapp, Galen Shepard Prouty, age 93, b. 30 Dec 1912, Everson, WA, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 2, 2006 in Federal Way. He is a descendant from the colonial family of Richard Prouty and Damaris Torrey of Scituate, MA. Galen is survived by his son, Garold L. Prouty Grazyna; daughter, Gale D. Hatch Dennis; four grandchildren, Katarzyna M. Prouty, Galen S. Prouty, Michelle B. Prouty, Jennifer L. McAlpine Swenson and Jill M. Matteson Swenson; six great grandchildren, Sophia Prouty, Jacob McAlpine, Jocelyn McAlpine, JoLynn McAlpine, Jared Matteson and Kaitlyn Matteson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred P. Prouty, his high school sweetheart, b. 19 Aug 1912, Everson, WA, d. 2 Jun 1984 Poulsbo, WA, and son Michael G. Prouty d. 12 Sep 1993, Seattle, WA. At Galen’s request no services are to be held. Galen was a life member of Bellingham Bay Lodge 44 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Nile Shrine. He was employed by the Kale Co., later as a ship fitter in Bellingham, then as a heavy equipment operator for Civil Service, Kodiak Naval Station, AK and Bangor Naval Station, WA. He married second Margaret Lantrip of Oklahoma, they spent summers in Poulsbo and RV’ing winters in the southwest. The family has entrusted arrangements to BONNEY-WATSON Federal Way, 1535 SW Dash Point Rd., Federal Way, WA 253 839-7317.
