Gene’s Legacy of Life
Gene Allen Fifield was born on April 5th, 1943 and peacefully passed away on January 15th, 2017 at the age of 73. He was born in Everett Washington where he lived with his parents Marvin and Frances, his brother John and sister Marveen. Gene moved to Auburn Washington in 1963 and resided there until 5 years ago when he moved to Federal Way.
In his teenage years, Gene had a newspaper route and was a crab fisherman. He also enjoyed car racing which quickly became a hobby with him and his buddies. After High School he began his career at The Boeing Company as a machinist and remained there for 44 years.
He met Doretta Meierotto while at work and soon asked her for a date. They were engaged 3 months later and married for nearly 54 years. They had two children together, Annette and Doug, whom he loved dearly and would do anything for.
Gene attended and was a charter member of the Federal Way Church of the Nazarene for nearly 50 years. He was very active as a member, enjoyed helping other people and loved keeping the church’s finances in order (40 years) until his declining eyesight wouldn’t permit. Other interest included listening to books, going to car shows, Mariner games with his son (they were season ticket holders), being a crew member for hot air ballooning (fell in love with Prosser, WA), and listening to the Seahawk game. Recent travel highlights were a camping/road trip with his family to Yellowstone State Park and a cruise with Doretta to the Bahamas. He had a special relationship with animals and they always knew he was the one that could scratch in the right spots! They would flock to him and he loved them secretly.
Gene is survived by his wife Doretta of Federal Way, daughter Annette (Bill) Franklin of Bonney Lake, Son Doug (Liz) Fifield of Auburn, his many nieces and nephews and his grandfurbabies (Lexi, Chance, Halo, Delilah, Kona and Ruger). He was preceded in death by his father Marvin, mother Frances, sister Marveen and brother John. He will be missed by all.
A celebration of Gene’s life will be held on Saturday February 4th, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Federal Way Church of the Nazarene, 1525 SW Dash Point Road, Federal Way, WA 98003. Reception to follow.

I will always remember Gene for his loving and giving spirit to the Church of the Nazarene and to all the many friends he and Doretta have. You will be missed, Love in Christ.
Both Gene & Doretta were/are special friends to us. We loved our time at the Federal Way Nazarene Church. May God comfort and carry Doretta and the family thru this valley of grief and separation, until we can meet again together in Heaven!! Praise God for His provision of salvation that makes it possible to see our loved ones again.
I met Gene when his son Doug & my daughter started dating & now married. It was a pleasure to have him & Doretta over for holiday dinners, play games or watch/listen to foodball games, visit and just enjoy the day. Gene was a loving warm man to all & also had a sly sense to humor. He had a big heart & would help all. He used to walk not only a few blocks but miles. I could not believe it. I worried about him doing this since his eye sight had deteriated but he was not about to give up. Gene is now with the Lord and can watch over us from above. Until we meet again, Peace Be With you.
Darlene and I have had the pleasure of knowing Gene for almost 40 years. He was a kind and gentle man both at church and at Boeing where I worked with him on several projects.
Gene, you will be missed.
