Geneva and I attended school together in South Bend, beginning in kindergarden at Broadway School and graduating together in 1957. We were a small class from a small town and were all close friends. I have only seen her once since then, but through our frequent class reunions have followed her life. She was a sweet and fun loving girl. I know she will be greatly missed by her friends and family. My sympathies go out to them.

My name is Julie Lindgren. My mother was Nora Gearheart, who used to own the Square Deal Tavern in Fremont district. That is where we met Gindy. There was a group of young people who would come in and have a beer or two. Gindy became very good friends with my mom and adventually moved in with us. She lived at our house for about a year and a half. Shortly after that she and John were married and I was her maid of honor. We kept in contact for many years. We both lived in Burien at the time. I have pictures of Leanne with my daughter Sheila when Sheila was a baby. The last time I saw Gindy was at Jim Moore’s where she was bartending. We then moved to Montana and I lost contact with her. Gindy was a wonderful person who made my high school days much better. It was like having a big sister. I’m sorry to hear of her passing, can’t believe it, she was so young. She made the world a better place. Julie Lindgren

Gindy, we were good friends in high school both graduating in 1957. We lost contact with each other following high school. I taught school in Washington then in California. Frank, my husband, and I moved back to Washington settling in Snohomish following the birth of our 1st daughter. I often thought about you and wondered where you had settled. We both had busy lives and the time just slipped by us. I am deeply sorry we did not search for one another. We lived close and it would have been great to renew old friendships. You are now in the hands of God. God Bless you and your family.

Gindy and I worked together at Home Savings & Loan in Burien during the 80’s. We became good friends and spent a lot of our spare time together. I will miss her.

Although I hadn’t seen Geneva for many years, she was always part of a close group of classmates from South Bend HS since 1957. I have tracked her life from afar with help from Puget Sound classmates and we all were saddened to learn of her downward progress at our 47th reunion recently. She leaves behind rich memories from the time she was a bright popular teen-ager in South Bend. Please add my families condolences to the many others who emapathize with her family at this difficult time.
