Obituary

George Luke Human died May 6th 2013 in Kent, Washington at the age of 93 years. Born February 23, 1920 in Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin to Luke and Rose Human, George was the third of six kids and is survived by his elder sister Rosie of Springfield, Oregon. He moved to Washington from the Midwest in 1945. He met Jane (Panske) Human in 1951 while working on his Father’s Vashon Island fruit farm and they married in 1952. They bought a home in McMicken Heights in 1958 and the couple had 3 children, Valerie, John and Gary.

The “guy with the arm,” as he was often referred to because of a left-arm deformity from birth overcame what many considered a disability by hard work. He rebuilt cars and repaired garbage trucks after working an 8 hour day job. His hard work culminated into his dream job of owning a wrecking yard. After a brief partnership to get into the business in 1969, George and Jane operated All City Auto Wrecking in South Park, WA for 30 years. George commented that going to work at All City was like taking a daily vitamin, he loved it so much. Youngest son Gary began full-time after high school and really made the business successful.

George’s hobby and enjoyment was work. A big event he often referred to as life changing occurred in 1976 when he quit drinking. That allowed the couple to travel all over the United States plus Europe but especially to George’s favorite destinations: Hawaii and Florida.

George and Jane were present for all four of their grandson’s births. He was very proud of his grandsons Philip Creek, Theophilus Human, Daniel Creek, Joseph Human and great-granddaughter Hafsa Creek.

George was a very strong, sturdy man from all his years of hard work, with an innovative and inventive mind. He invented the C-Clamp that won him an award during the ’62 Seattle World’s Fair and in ’95 re-engineered his prosthetic arm so it wouldn’t slow him down. He didn’t complain about it; instead found ways to get things done.

George’s successful career allowed for both he and Jane to live in beautiful care facilities when their health declined. The children are grateful to Best Care Homes for their loving care.

A celebration of life will be held at Midway Covenant Church, May 25th at 2:00 pm, 22460 24th Ave S, Des Moines, WA 98198. George is buried at Washington Memorial in SeaTac and messages can be posted at http://www.bonneywatson.com

Donations in honor of George’s life can be made to University of Washington Prosthetics and Orthotics at: http://depts.washington.edu/givemed/give/?page=make&source=prosor or by calling 1-866-633-2586

Val John and Garry,

Our thoughts are with you. We both felt very much welcomed by your family when we came over to Seattle.

Elaine and I will remember your father on Saturday evening over here in Spain which will be the time of your memorial service in Seattle.

Again our thoughts are with you.

I have wonderful memories from my youth spending time at the Human home. What I loved most about George was his CAN DO attitude! May GOD bless the Human, Ensor and Creek family during difficult time.

This life is fleeting, eternity is forever, I pray that George made his eternity a sure thing by yielding to God’s call upon his life.
