Georgene G. Brown
Obituary
Georgene G. Brown, age 89, passed peacefully on Thursday morning, December 1, 2022. For the past three years, she has been in the loving care of Harbor Heritage Adult Family Home in Gig Harbor.
Georgene was born July 18, 1933, in Seattle, Washington, the only child of George Perry and Edith McConville. In 1951, Georgene graduated from West Seattle High School and married Duane Brown. They raised six children in their Burien home. Georgene was an excellent homemaker and a popular piano teacher in the community. She also gave lessons to her children, instilling in them an early love for music.
Georgene dedicated herself to a variety of ministries at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burien. Chief among them was her long service as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and catechism teacher. Her devotion to family and church were central to how she lived her life.
After retirement in 1992, Georgene and Duane took leisurely road trips exploring the country in their motor home. Georgene recalled those times as some of her most enjoyable.
Georgene’s other interests included golfing, crocheting, and genealogy. Her beautiful hand crafted Afghans, baby blankets and layettes delighted friends and family. Her family history books will continue to intrigue and inform descendants for many years to come.
Seven years ago and after sixty-four years of marriage, Duane departed this world. Georgene now rejoins her beloved husband in eternal peace.
Surviving Georgene are her six children, Mary Moffett (Stan), Margaret McComb (Tim), Bob Brown (Rose), Tom Brown (Brenda), Jan Sonsteng (Dave), and Sharon Moore (Karen), thirteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
All who knew Georgene will miss her loving presence. There will be a private graveside service. A celebration of life ceremony is planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity.
