Georgene Wanda Bellin
January 2, 1942-January 12, 2014
Georgene Wanda Bellin was born the second of 3 children to George and Wanda Bellin on January 2, 1942 in Watertown Wisconsin. She has an older sister named Beverley and a younger brother named Robert.
Georgene (Gigi) spent most of her early years going to school and residing in Watertown Wisconsin. While attending Northwestern prep. She met this college boy named Daniel Lee Sabrowsky that changed her world forever. Mom did admit that in the beginning she wasn’t really that impressed with this college boy but eventually with persistence on his part he did win her heart and they were married in Watertown Wisconsin on Aug. 19, 1961.
In July 1962 dad received his first call to Palos Heights Ill. Where they spent their first few years of married life. On May 4, 1963 they welcomed their first son (Michael James) and a couple years later on September 16, 1965 they welcomed a daughter (Susan Jean) to their family. A couple years later in Aug, 1967 dad accepted a call to Pamona California so it was time to pack up the house and move the family to the other side of the country. On December 21,1968 they welcomed another son (Robert Daniel) to the Sabrowsky home.
Five years after moving the family across the country it was time to do it all again. Dad accepted a call to teach at Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We packed up the house and the kids and yet again moved across the country to Waukesha Wisconsin. Mom enjoyed living in Waukesha because she was now close to her parents and siblings again. We spent many fun times living there and having family around us again.
I think dad was getting itchy feet because he accepted another call this time it was to Seattle Washington and the beautiful Pacific Northwest. By now mom was getting to be an expert of packing up the house and moving the family across the country.
Mom spent many years working for the Bon Marche in Northgate Mall and really enjoyed getting out of the house and meeting and getting to know her regular customers.
Mike married Jennifer Nielsen in May 1984, and on March 26, 1985 mom and dad became grandparents for the first time when Mike and Jenny had their first son (Joshua Lee Michael).
Dad accepted another call in 1985 but this time it wasn’t just across the country this time it was half way across the world to Adelaide Australia. This was a different experience for mom having to pack up all of their worldly possessions and put them in a container and put them on a boat to move to a country they know nothing about, well except that they have kangaroos, koalas and they drive on the other side of the road. Leaving was very difficult for everyone as Mike and his family stayed in Seattle as the rest of us hopped on a plane for the unknown. Moving to another country was quite an experience but at least we had each other and they kind of spoke English there. We slowly started adjusting to life in Adelaide once our container of goods arrived a couple months later. We moved to a house in Salisbury Park, South Australia and were fortunate to have some of the greatest neighbours help us to get use to life in OZ and Graeme and Helen continue to be close friends to this day.
In April 1986, Sue fell for the Aussie accent and married an Aussie named Ian Thompson and in September 1986 they welcomed their first child and mom and dads second grandson (Christopher John).
In early 1987 dad and mom moved back to Portland Oregon after 18 months leaving Sue and her family behind in Australia.
After couple more moves over the next few years in both Oregon and California and leaving Robert behind in California, mom and dad finally settled into life in Federal Way, Washington where they were finally able to put roots down it only took them most of their lives. Over the years they welcomed 3 more grandchildren, Craig Samuel on December 13, 1988 and Kiralee Danielle on January 3, 1994 to Sue and Ian and Emily Jane on February 5, 1999 to Mike and Jennifer. On September 20, 2012 their first great grand daughter Amity Grace was born to Craig and Sophie.
Gigi was a loving wife, mother grandmother, and great grandmother and her family was very important to her. She spent a lot of time over the years fishing with dad and travelling overseas to Australia. She was a very creative person and loved painting and crafting. She was an excellent cook and baker as well. She worked full time at Macey’s in Federal Way until last July when got sick and had to give up her job. She was a good Christian woman and very strong in her faith.
Gigi is preceded in death by her husband Daniel and survived by her Sister Beverley, and Brother Robert, children Mike &(Jennifer), Sue& (Ian), and Robert, grand children Joshua & (Alex), Christopher & (Jess), Craig & (Sophie), Kiralee and Emily and one great grand child Amity.
Gigi was loved by her family and will be very missed, but she will always live in hour hearts.
What a wonderful tribute to your mother! Offering sincere condolences to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Our Heavenly father in His word the Bible calls death an enemy (1Cor. 15:26) which He promises in the very near future to do away with (Rev. 21:4,5) At that time tragedies and accidents will be a thing of the past, no one will ever get sick (Isaiah 33:24) and there will be a reuniting, a bringing back to life instead of losing (John 5:28,29) Please allow these words to be of comfort to you and give you hope.
