Obituary
Geraldine K. Towns, 86, of Federal Way, Washington, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 7, 2025. She was born September 28, 1938 to parents Charles and Ruth Bergan in Newark, New Jersey.
Gerri grew up in Woodbridge, New Jersey and attended Woodbridge and Manasquan high schools. She worked as an administrative assistant at Fort Monmouth Army Base, New Jersey. In 1966 she married and relocated to Beaumont, Texas where she resided until 2014. She worked for Allstate Insurance Company in Beaumont for 25 years. She started there as an administrative assistant and worked her way up to claims manager. She absolutely loved working at Allstate and loved the memories she made there. She was the first female automotive claims adjuster in Texas and blazed the trail for other women in the claims industry. In her retirement she enjoyed golfing, reading, scrapbooking and time with her grandchildren. In 2014 she relocated to Tacoma, Washington to be closer to her dear daughter Deborah.
Gerri is predeceased in death by her parents, Ruth and Charles, her sister, Lorraine Mullen and grandson Daniel Asrari.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Alicia Vincelette (Richard) and Kathleen Bello (Tony). She has two caring daughters, Deborah Asrari (Kianoosh) of Tacoma, Washington and Becky Amann (Wes) of Buda, Texas. Her pride and joy were her beautiful grandchildren William Asrari (Jackie), Daniel Asrari (passed in 2000), Shahrzad Asrari, Maryam Reid (Branden), Kelly Stephenson and Katie Stephenson, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank Sydney Adult Family Home in Federal Way, WA. Especially, Ms. Lucy, Dorothy and Jane for their excellent and compassionate care.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later time in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Humane Society of Tacoma in Pierce County.
