Obituary

Geraldine Marie McClean was called home to the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2017, the day of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. She passed away peacefully, and is at eternal rest. She was surrounded with the love of her husband and family prior to her eternal trip to Heaven.

Her life was marked by a deep faith and love of her family. Her devotion and love of her husband, children and grandchildren was the focus in her life.  She loved spending time at her home and Vashon Island cabin, surrounded by family and friends. She loved beach walks, watching birds, seeing her flowers bloom and dancing with her family. She had a special gift with babies and children, and was fortunate to be surrounded by so many.

She was born on June 25th, 1931 in Omaha Nebraska to Joseph and Kathryn McCloud. She graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing school (now Creighton University) with a RN degree. It is there she met the love of her life and her Husband of 64 years, Hugh Peter McClean, MD. while he was attending medical school at Creighton. They were married on September 5th, 1953. Hugh’s career brought them back to Seattle, where they settled and began to grow their family in Burien, WA. Their marriage created a wonderful family that consists of nine beautiful children; Catherine Burnett (Curtis MD.), Patrick McClean MD.(Michele), Steven McClean MD., Jean McCoy (Tim), Susan DiGiovanni (Ray), Carole Hogan (Gary), James McClean (Mindy), Timothy McClean, and John McClean. She was blessed with twenty-three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Her kindness, caring, compassion, support, and love has always been a beacon of light leading our family. She was at the center of all the family celebrations and holidays and that memory will be cherished by all. Her first thoughts were always about the good qualities in people, she was always inviting and accepting. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, laughter, and compassion that she shared with all the people that she touched. We want to thank her for her love and always being the one to make people feel comfortable and at home. We will miss her every moment of every day.

The funeral service will be at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. The family requests any gifts or donations be made to Catholic Community Services.
