Obituary

Gloria Elizabeth Barnhart

Born December 24, 1925, passed away February 18, 2004, in Des Moines, Washington, at 79. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bob, and is survived by loving daughter Robin Dave McGehee, son Rick Nancy Barnhart, and grandchildren Kelly Jason Carr, Robby McGehee, and Zoey Pappas. An incredible wife, mom, grandma and often referred to as Mrs. B, all that she did was with pure love – from caring for her family to befriending anyone who needed their spirits lifted. An avid Mariners fan, to celebrate her retirement from Cole & Weber Advertising, her simple request was dinner and a game at Safeco Field. She will be deeply missed — her beauty, compassion and tenderness will remain sweet memories for everyone lucky enough to know her. Visitation Tues. 2/24, 2-8pm; Commemorative Service Wed. 2/25, 3pm, both at BONNEY-WATSON Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd. SeaTac. I was so sorry to hear of Gloria’s death. I worked with her for 9 1/2 years at Cole & Weber. She always had a smile and a willingness to talk. I remember her office on the second floor crammed full of phones. All had something wrong with them but Gloria couldn’t part with a one! Her smile was extra wide on the days her grandchildren were in the office. Robbie I remember most clearly. He became an expert mail delivery person under Gloria’s watchful eye. Gloria was obviously so proud of Robbie and of all her grandchildren. She never spoke ill of anyone and played down her own difficulties in order to focus on others. I know she was a terrific friend to Claudia, our receptionist, and will be terribly missed by her and by all whose lives she touched. My condolences to Gloria’s family. She lived a life that had a lot of struggles but it was a full life and I believe she felt very fortunate to be surrounded by the love of such a family. I feel so lucky to have known her. In sympathy,

Gloria and her sister, Lurene, are the happiest of memories from the ten years I worked at Cole & Weber.

Gloria will be sorely missed, I am sure, by all her family.

I knew Gloria when FX McRory’s would cater to Cole & Weber for all their grand celebrations. Gloria would welcome us with a big smile just like in the photo here and we would be sure she would get to “sample the menu” before the guests arrived! I am sure all her family will miss her terribly, she was a great gal! Our deepest sympathy and prayers for all of you.

My thoughts are with Gloria’s family, who are going to miss her so much. She was such a loving person and we are all so lucky to have known her and worked with her. Gloria was one “Giving person”. If the peoples of the world could take a lesson from her, we would be in a better place.

Robin, Wish I could come to the services, but will be thinking of you. Your Mom was so precious. I sent Judy and Aunt Ethyl the obituary. I would love to see you and get together at some point in our busy lives.

Sincerely,

Lynn Fenton
