Gloria Cole died peacefully after a long stay at Foss Home at the age of 93. She graduated from Broadway High School and was a long time active member of University Presbyterian Church. She completed a 5-year bible study class, was on the prayer chain, was trained in Stephen Ministries and a member of a Circle #4. She was a tireless worker at church charities as the First Avenue Service Center now Family and Adult Services where she made sandwiches galore. In 1949 Gloria and her dear husband, Gordon Cole, opened the 3rd store, a dress shop, of the brand new, not even completed, Northgate Mall, the first mall in the country. They were charter members of the mall merchants "Munchers & Crunchers" social and charity club. Gloria’s life was very full. A few of her favorite organizations were the Eastern Star, Shrine Almer Court, Greater Seattle Fuchsia and Rhododendron Societies, Arboretum Foundation, League of Women Voters, and the First District Republican Club. Over the years she received many cards and letters from The White House. Gloria’s talents were many. She was an accomplished artist, a trained singer, and an avid gardener with rare plants and prize roses. She took delight in sending birthday cards each month to her many friends and family and a special little plush teddy bear to all the new babies. Gloria wished to thank all her friends and family for the many, many cards, letters and visits while she was at Foss Home. "May the good Lord bless and keep you." She is survived by her daughter, Beverlee Putnam, her son, Gregory Cole Barbara, Grandchildren, Dean Putnam Mari, Grant Cole and Krista Cole, and great-grandsons, Gavin Cole and Alex Putnam. Viewing is at Wiggen & Sons Mortuary in Ballard on Friday, March 2nd at 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3rd, 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4th, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 6, 1:00 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle followed by a reception to celebrate her life.
